First Hack

I've been looking around to see how I can run my Gadget Infinity triggers for remote strobes and still use one on my camera's bracket at the same time. I did some looking and found this discussion on flickr about various adapters to get you from hot shoe to PC sync cable. "Why do you need that PC connection ?", you might ask. Well, Canon USA Inc. doesn't think that people are going to use a 350D and off camera lighting so they didn't install a PC connector on the camera. They do this on quite a few models actually. After looking at the cable that came with the triggers and giving it some thought, I decided against buying an adapter and broke out the soldering iron. Yup, I busted open the lower case (which is a replaceable assembly) of the new, and still under warranty, 430EX. I soldered the wires and put the covers back on after testing it a bit. It works like a champ and I've ordered a PC cable with two male ends on it so that I can make a similar modification to my other flash units.
