Manzanita BMX

I've been shooting a bit out at the <a href="http://racebmx.com/" target="_blank">Manzanita BMX Raceway</a>. It's a fun place with great owners and staff, but the kids are best. The little ones are treated well and I think that's the true measure of the place. This past weekend was all gate shots and some of them came out really well. The gate is hefty and is operated by a pretty big hydraulic cylinder that can be seen in some of the photos. The gate really crashes down hard, but most of the riders help it a bit and are pulling the front wheel hard by the time it starts its downward movement. The boys pro-am class is off and running in the photo below. I hope that the parents will become accustomed to my being there and the little ones will quit looking at my flashes as if they'll actually do anything but blind them. Really, the little guys and girls think that the flash is taking their photo and they'll stare at them repeatedly. I've been trading small photos optimized for myspace usage with my logo for track burgers and I consider that a bit of the cost of advertising.
