For portraits, I charge a flat fee for an initial time frame, then my hourly rate after that for time spent on location. After the shoot, I sell prints through my website. The flat fee includes a CD of small images for web sharing and for family. If you’d like a CD of images that you can print later, we’ll work something out, but it’ll come at a significantly larger price because, giving customers full size images on a CD forces me to surrender any future income from those images and I basically lose control of the work that I have done. (copyright marks can be removed, etc)
For sporting events, it’s the same price structure, but for long days I will negotiate a fee that works for both of us since there can and will be down time in the day somewhere. I travel to a location that suits everyone and set up with mobile lights and equipment.
Initial Flat Rate Fee: $80
This covers the first 90 minutes of my time after the camera comes out of the bag and gets turned on.
Hourly Rate: $60
This may seem high, but I can shoot 200-400 images in an hour depending upon what’s going on. The rate covers my extra time shooting as well as the significant amount of time spent processing your images.
